Mc Equine Surfaces Plate

Prize Money: $80,000

MALASTAR (8) has been very impressive at the trials, scoring dominantly in both outings and stamping herself as the one to beat on debut. She's done it out to 850m as well which is a big tick and she has options from the draw. Can make an impression right away. SPRINT FOR GLORY (5) trialled strongly in his only public outing, finishing in front by 0.2L in a 400m heat at Belmont. CJP's booking is a good push, as is the inside draw for a horse who showed good speed in his trial. Can sit handy and use the rail as a guide, which is a big help for these early 2YO races. ALBIREX (1) improved nicely into his second trial where he clocked a faster overall time in the process. Fiore sticking with him is a good sign and a forward showing is anticipated on debut. OCHRE (4) gets Chris Parnham on board for his debut despite not trialling him. Can play a leading role. MASQUERADE MAN (3) has trialled well coming in and ticks plenty of boxes.

Makes his first race appearance for Darren McAuliffe with Lucy Fiore booked, and that rider engagement gives the debut some extra polish. The Universal Ruler and Niigata gelding draws midfield in barrier six, while the trainer-sire record sits at a solid 17% wins and 43% placings from a big sample. Recent trial was superb and he looks to get things to suit.

Steps out as a Rommel gelding from Petite La Femme, making him a full brother to Harbour Rise, who won at Belmont Park over 1300m. Dion Luciani's debut record is respectable with two wins from 11 starters, and Patrick Carbery is a senior booking. Trialled just behind Masquerade Man recently, though others make more appeal.

Debuts for the Sean & Jake Casey stable, which has produced 18% winners and 36% placegetters with first-starters from the supplied sample. The family has speed influence through Cannykev, a 1000m city winner at this venue and Belmont Park, and barrier five gives him a workable starting point. Ticks a few boxes and can make a statement.

Begins from barrier two for Simon A Miller, with Chris Parnham an obvious positive in a race of first-starters. The North Pacific gelding is out of Pitjara, whose winner Warrego scored over 1100m, giving some encouragement for an early sprint assignment. Maps for a lovely run from the outset and Parnham's booking is a good push.

Draws barrier one for Sean & Jake Casey and brings one of the better family profiles in the race. He is a half-brother to Aberdeen Flyer, a Listed J.C. Roberts Stakes winner, and to Dixie Doo, a Belmont Park city winner over 1200m. Drawing the inside is key for his chances and he can play a leading role on debut.

Comments

Starts from the outside barrier for Neville Parnham, and that makes the first assignment more complicated. The Playing God colt is from a useful family, with Night Shift a city winner at 1200m and Hyde Park a five-time winner, but the stable's debut win rate in the supplied figures is just 3%. Looking to others.

Debuts from barrier three with Holly Nottle claiming 1.5kg, which is a handy set-up for a 55kg filly. Her family is the major positive, with Revitup a six-time winner and Listed Placid Ark Stakes placegetter, while Door Buster won on debut. Trialled behind Malastar and that trial form looks strong.

Makes her debut with the strongest overall profile in this field. The Tiger Of Malay filly is out of Secret Nova and is a half-sister to Snippenova, a city winner over 1000m at both Belmont Park and this venue, which ties neatly into today's sprint task. Impressive at the trials and can play start her career with a bang.

Comes to the races for Mack Hall with barrier four, so the draw is at least workable for a first outing. The Marine One filly is out of Exodia, whose runners Messina and Kegs And Legs are yet to win from the supplied records, and their debut efforts were well held. Trialled earlier this week and while she has drawn well, I'm happy to just watch her go around.
