Leinster Race 6

Bhp Nickel West Leinster Cup (Bm64+)

Prize Money: $30,000

RULER ROCKET (2) looks the runner to beat after a neck second to Dublin Red at Leonora, where he started favourite and was only collared late. The rise to 1600m is the question, with no previous run around the trip, but his BM62+ win at Mingenew two starts back reads well enough for this and the apprentice claim helps offset that test. WESTERN IMPACT (4) has been placed at his past two, including third behind BOAB BOY last week, and his consistency this season keeps him in the race despite being winless from four tries around 1600m. DEAL OBTAINED (5) brings winning momentum from Landor, having won two Open races in three days, and the sharp weight relief is a genuine advantage as he moves from picnic company to a harder meeting. GOT LUCKY (3) was plain behind BOAB BOY last start, but his second to Hard Questions in BM62+ grade two back and proven record at this track and trip give him an each-way path if he rebounds. FRIES WITH THAT (6) won't be far away.

Went within a neck of Dublin Red at Leonora last week, starting favourite and only being caught late after giving a bold sight. He had won a BM62+ at Mingenew before that, beating State Of Fury by just under three lengths despite the stewards noting he raced wide. First go at 1600m asks a question, but he brings the strongest winning case.

Expected Settling Position: Midfield

Comments

Was safely held behind Boab Boy at Leonora last start, settling rearward and finishing fifth, beaten just under ten lengths, despite being near the top of an open market. The run prior was better when second to Hard Questions in a BM62+ over 2000m at Mingenew. Blinkers off and a rebound gives him a minor hope.

Kept grinding into third behind Boab Boy at Leonora last week, beaten five and a half lengths after being slow to begin and settling back. His previous second at Mingenew came in BM56+ grade, where he was beaten just under two lengths by Repeater after travelling well. More a place profile than a dominant winning option.

Comments

Arrives off consecutive Landor Open wins, most recently beating Mystery Bullet by four lengths over 1400m after being near the top of betting. Today is a harder meeting than that picnic form, but the grade drop from Open company and major weight relief from 77kg to 55kg are important positives. Harder meeting now, but the setup keeps him in the placings hunt.

Battled on for fourth behind Boab Boy at Leonora last week, beaten just over six lengths after tracking the speed. That was an improvement on his Mingenew run in BM62+ grade, where he was last and beaten over 11 lengths after looking ready to pounce before offering little. Place at best if he lifts.

Finished a distant seventh behind Boab Boy at Leonora last start, beaten over 17 lengths after settling rearward and failing to improve at long odds. His Geraldton sixth in Class 2 company beforehand was also plain, beaten seven and a half lengths by Hyperreal despite picking up late. Others bring far stronger recent form.
