Narromine Race 2

Narromine Usmc Mdn Plate

Prize Money: $16,000

KNIGHTS TEMPLAR (1) gets the nod on the strength of two late-closing efforts that read better than the finishing positions suggest, beaten three and a half lengths at this track two starts back before again working home from well back at Orange. The market has missed him at both runs, but race fitness and his distance profile give him a solid winning platform. RIDGEBACK (3) brings a close recent line, having beaten KNIGHTS TEMPLAR at Orange when fifth behind La Chaparron, and the 2kg claim helps him stay right in the argument despite a modest overall maiden record. FABULOUS ONE (4) is third-up and was better through the line at Tamworth, though the untried 1300m asks a genuine question. MEGA MISSILE (9) is the unknown, a $6,500 debutant with a recent Scone trial and enough profile to run a placing if he handles race pressure first time out.

Closed off strongly from the rear when last of eight at Orange, yet was only beaten three and a half lengths by La Chaparron and did enough late to keep the run alive. He had also made ground at this track two starts back when sixth by the same margin. Fourth-up now, he brings the best winning profile.

Made solid inroads from well back at Orange last week, finishing fifth and beaten just under three lengths by La Chaparron, with a minor contact incident noted late. That was a clear step back in the right direction after a plain Dubbo effort behind Velocette. With the claim, he rates as a strong danger.

Expected Settling Position: Midfield

Returns from a six-month break after ending last campaign with a seventh in a Class 1 at Muswellbrook, beaten seven and a half lengths after being bumped at the start. Her previous run was also in Class 1 company at Mudgee, where she lacked a turn of foot. A sharp fresh lift is required.

Back after two months off since a ninth at Tamworth, where she was bumped early but still finished six and a half lengths from Fioggia at big odds. Her previous race run was second last at Muswellbrook on heavy ground, beaten over 12 lengths. Others bring stronger evidence.

Led but faded badly at Dubbo last start, finishing ninth and beaten nine and a half lengths at long odds on soft ground. She had been last at Wellington the run prior, beaten over 15 lengths after racing keenly. She must turn her form around.

Debuts as a $6,500 Inglis online purchase and has had two trials, most recently at Scone two weeks ago. The stable's debut record supplied is quiet, but the trainer-sire combination has a broader record of winners and placings, and the 1.5kg claim is useful. Place profile until he shows it under race pressure.
