POINTER (4) has the most dependable current profile after placings in both runs this season, including a third at this track in FM BM74 grade when beaten just over a length. The weight relief strengthens her case, and although she is still chasing a first 1400m win, her repeated placings at the trip make her the one to beat. PLAY ACT (7) is the clear danger after a sharp BM80 second to Globetonic at this venue, beaten half a length at long odds, and he now gets in with 54kg third-up. RHYDIAN (1) has the recent BM68 win at this track and was not far away behind Globetonic last start, but PLAY ACT had his measure in that latest meeting. ACTION AMERICA (3) has been unplaced in two runs this campaign, yet the BM96 effort two back was much better than the latest Open sixth and Richard Fourie going on gives him a credible place profile.

Comments

Has been safely held at his past two, finishing seventh in a BM78 over 1600m at this track before an eighth at Fairview when beaten over 11 lengths as a firming favourite. The return to 1400m is no obvious fix, with two placings from nine tries around the trip. Jason Gates has won on him before, but a major form turnaround is required.

Expected Settling Position: Midfield

Comments

Was well held when sixth in an Open over 1600m at this track last start, beaten just over six lengths without a clear excuse. His previous Fairview run was more encouraging, only beaten just under two lengths in BM96 grade after firming from opening levels. Third-up and drawn barrier one for Richard Fourie, he can improve enough to press for a minor placing.

Expected Settling Position: Off Midfield

Comes through a strong last-start third in FM BM74 company at this track, beaten just over a length after sitting near the top of an open market. She had also placed in FM BM80 grade at Turffontein Inside, so the form has been consistent this season. The 1400m win is still missing, but the weight relief and Craig Zackey booking give her a strong platform to break through.

Finished fourth in a BM82 at this track last start, beaten just under five lengths after firming from opening levels. He had been third in Open company at this venue the run prior, so the recent form is honest rather than dominant. A 1400m record of one win and five placings keeps him in calculations, but he has to find sharper late strength to trouble the main chances.

Expected Settling Position: Off Pace

Lifted sharply when second in a BM80 at this track last start, beaten half a length by Globetonic at long odds. That was a much better guide than his second-last effort in Open grade at Fairview, and he now comes here third-up with weight relief and a light 54kg. He has placed at this venue and over 1400m often enough to make the latest run a serious winning pointer.
